Peace Through Music : Playing for Change

If you’re not familiar with them, Peace Through Music’s project “Playing for Change” is an awesome display of how music has no boundaries.  Where people with different backgrounds can come together and make music freely and have no barriers between them and the people who would hear their music. They’ve created a portable studio that they brought with them around the world to bring the various musicians together.

In 2007, the Playing for Change Foundation was created. It is a non profit corporation that gives back to the musicians and communities they live in. That helped develop Timeless Media in 2008, which funds Playing for Change, to go into a joint venture with Concord Music Group. Together they make is possible for the musicians you see in their videos to come together and play benefit concerts that help build schools and art studios for less fortunate communities.

Here is a rendition of Ben E King’s Stand By Me, that sprouted the popularity of Playing for Change.

This here is their latest Episode, a rendition of Bob Marley’s War, No More Trouble. New episodes can be found on their website, playingforchange.com
